Isn’t this precariously (or deliciously) close to the subplot between John Krasinksy’s character and Jenna Fischer’s character on “The Office”? Well, minus some years (being undergrads) plus some more balls (on Justin’s part) divided by the rest of the cast multiplied by the sum of its parts?

1. i LOVE that you are a grammar snob. your cool point tally is astronomical at this point. (I am the daughter of an editor and a writer, although i am also a member of my generation, which means my rules for capitalization and spelling are somewhat modernized and slack.) That’s the bad news. The good news? I understand how adverbs work, so you will never see me type phrases like: “fall asleep quicker” *shudders*

2. i lose a fingernail every time i read one of the Hot Copy Editor posts. i’m on the edge of my seat. but, because i am anal retentive to the point of absurdity, i only read my favorite blogs in the chronological order of the posts. so, thanks for the “next in category” links, but i can’t do that. and yes, that was a compliment.

4. have i ever done something like this for someone i’ve never dated? hmmmm……….no. but i have done stuff like this in the hopes that i will get laid when i get off the plane. sad? yes. did it work? no.

Yes, yes, I have gone to extremely ridiculous extents for guys I weren’t dating (some of them I never dated in spite of that). Except I’m too much of a sissy to tell them on the Internet.

I think this form is fine. Even with the cliff hangers, it’s nice to have something that you read regularly and keep your interest. Just don’t make like those TV exec’s and start putting in 8 week gaps and killing off characters. Unless, well… I don’t think you would go that far.

Piffle. That your audience is in suspense is a sign that you’re telling a good story. Some of the great works of literature were told in serial form with frequent cliffhangers. And I’m not just talking about the X-Files.
